My first day working with publicity began this morning. It's a different side of marketing, which meant that I had to start from the bottom: Learning Learning LEARNING | First steps: Meeting with my new mentor. She explained to me more in depth about what they do exactly and what I could help them on. It was a very efficient meeting! |
Diners is currently working on a campaign associated to Diners Travel, where they will have a "Cierra Puertas" based on promotions for national and international trips.
"Cierra Puertas" = Days where there are limited and exclusive discounts and promotions
The marketing department, or publicity (to be more specific), are working right now on the catalogue to send to their clients about this campaign. Since I am new at this, with not a lot of experience in publicity, my mentor will include me in several of parts of the process for these campaigns to analyze the catalogues and brainstorm ideas of what works, what doesn't, and what can be improved. | LEARNING Knowing the company's past is VERY important, as well as learning more about Diners Club in other countries. Most importantly, seeing how Diners works in the US, the country where it all originated. With tihs, you learn more about how this company works as well and where they get the ideas from. |
As we know, Diners Club has many partnerships with valued franchises, which became bigger and marked a major milestone for the company, after releasing the Belong campaign.
The reason why Diners is called Diners Club, is because they have a different vision of how they treat their clients. First of all, Diners doesnt even call their clients, "clients." They call them, "members" since they are members of the Diners Club.
The Belong campaign created a greater impact on the members and how everyone is part of this club.

When speaking about marketing, publicity is always what people associted with because it seems to be the funnest part of it. I'm really looking forward to working in this area. Already, it seems like I'm going to enjoy this a lot since it's also a more creative side of marketing!
