This Thursday was the big opening for B

l endZ, our new smoothie business ran by students. It was the first time ever we offered our smoothies to the public and it was quite nerve-racking. Personally, I was overly excited to have a smoothie shop in school so the success of this prototype would mostly make it or break it. It would define whether the business was a success or not. And it was scary.
We also spent so much time and money having everything ready for this 40-minute sale that we REALLY wanted this to be and over-the-top trial. I mentioned before that creating a business was more time-consuming than I had thought, especially for such a small business like this one and taking into account that we have 14 people working on it. And it kept being harder to be organized and make sure we had everything we needed for the fundraiser on Thursday because since we had never done it before, we had to think in the future in the sense and try thinking of things we maybe needed to buy or do for that day.
For me, those were some of the most difficult things to do because it's hard to picture that specific day and anticipate what you might need. In fact, we kind of failed in that sense; the day of the sale we had to get the orange juice ready and when we had already started squeezing the oranges we realized we had no jars or any type of container to put all the juice in and as you can imagine, I was freaking out. Those are just small details that I wish we hadn't had because it was definitely stress I could have saved.

After the hard work, it was time for the fun part (believe it or not). I was in charge of making on of the smoothies and as nervous as I was, it was the best thing that happened to me apart from winning the Inter-class competition (ICC) this week. It was the busiest 40 minutes I have had of what I can remember because I made 44 smoothies NON-STOP.
As soon as I got home, I went to my dad with the great news that our smoothie sale had been a total success and his reaction when I told him I had prepared the smoothies was quite impressive. I'm not the kind of person who goes to the kitchen to cook, or probably even make smoothies so my dad was quite surprised that I had been making them and so many in such little time. I guess this year is about growth; be it academically and in the kitchen, both seem beneficial.
