It was 10:30 when Mr. Topf and I entered the building and met Carla for the first time. It was strange, but once I entered her office I wasn’t as nervous as I had thought I would be. She asked questions and I answered them the best I can. We talked about my schedule and the days I was going to be working there. We decided I would be at Diner’s from 9am to 1pm and if I decide on taking a project on marketing with them I could stay a few more hours later to work on that as well.
The schedule I got seemed to be a small amount of time since we had planned to have the internship from 6-8 hours. However, I realized that I do have other projects and work I have to do for the Innovation Academy like work on my iPOL and POL and Blog. So, this will be beneficial for me but also, I know that I have to work efficiently and use my time wisely and get advantage of the time I spend there. Did you know Diner’s was the first company to launch the first credit card in the WORLD AND IN PERU? | After my meeting had ended and Mr. Topf had already left as well, I sat down with Carla to talk more about the company and their goals and to let her know me a little bit better. Of course, I had already done some of my research and I was very knowledgeable about Diner’s already. My dad manages a lot of credit cards and I myself have some experience with them as well and this definitely helped me a lot to understand Diner’s concept. |
I realized she probably asked this question during our meeting because I was going to work in the marketing department. Maybe it was a test? I don’t know. But it definitely made me think a lot about how do I describe myself and the first impression I want people to have when they meet me for the first time.
By seeing the different sectors in the company, I learned that everything connects at the end. Everyone works for the same thing, which is Diner’s and that’s why it all comes down to that. What they do right and what they do wrong will impact the company one way or another. This also connects to the Innovation Academy, I think, because in a way, we are a company and if we work together, we will have better results, and if we don’t then things will be different.
