Since last week, we have been searching for the PERFECT topic for our documentaries that was related to the Peruvian economy and possibly the government. Last class I thought on a great question which interested me very much:
- How has the opportunities for men and women changed and helped the economy through gastronomy?
HOW CAN I POSSIBLY IMPACT THE LOCAL ECONOMY & GOVERNMENT THROUGH FILM?
As I brainstormed new topics for my documentary, we all went to interview people around school and ask questions such as:
The ideas kept flowing and we came up with a bunch of different interesting topics that we could use for our own documentaries.
After interviewing teachers, staff, and some students, this is what we brainstormed as a class:

There are many interesting topics that I would like to take into consideration for my documentary and after brainstorming several ideas and analyzing if these were interesting and feasible in terms of how can I get the information, I narrowed it down to these three top choices:
Tourism has had a tremendous impact in Peru, especially since Machu Picchu was named one of the Seven Wonders of the World. A few years later, Peru released their own brand which made the country known even more worldwide. This makes me think about how it could have affected the economy of the country in any way because of its impact.
On the other hand, there was also the "housing bubble" topic and the difference in price and taxes according to where each house was located. → LOCATION vs. COST
This was definitely interesting to analyze and actually see the reasons behind why this was occuring. However, since the beginning of the unit I was interested on the rise of female entrepreneurship in Peru.
Many articles have focused on this rise in the last few years and its interesting to see not just how compared to other countries how we have improved, but to see how Peru has come out of this stereotype that women can be more than housewives.

Today in class I was still trying to figure out what was the best topic for me. As I brainstormed more ideas with Mr. Topf, he asked me: "What do you want to focus more on: women rights or entrepreneurship?" I decided women rights would be a much more interesting topic for me.
These are some of the questions we brainstormed:
These are some of the questions we brainstormed:
- Are there high-skilled jobs for women?
- What are some high-skilled jobs available for women?
- What industries are female dominated? -public schools (low pay)
- Are all the profession dominated by women low pay?
- Are all the professions with a high pay dominated by men?
I still have more research to do. However, I know this is something I want to research more on. Now, find my BIG RESEARCH QUESTION:
