Last thursday was our POL (Presentation of Learning) Presentation. It had been a long week of a combination of projects such as this presentation, our documentary, plus IB work. Yes, pretty intense.
The day before our presentation I had also agreed to take pictures of an even happening in Lima and everything was made in a limited amount of time. Carolina and I had a clear outline of what we wanted to include in our presentation but we were still pretty nervous because we had no time to practice together and go over things for a few more times.

PLANNING → The whole week, from the Friday before the first draft of our POL was due, we had been working hard to outline what we parts of our topic we wanted to include in the presentation.
TRIAL & ERROR was our theme for this year's POL because we realized we had been trying many things and finally realizing we had to re-do things like the outline, script and even parts of the footage we had filmed. Everything always came back to trial and error.
A 68.5 MILLION DAMAGE! Have you heard about that train in France that was bigger than the measurements of the original rails? One small problem as having the wrong measurements can cost A LOT. In our case, the cost wasn't money but our time. We spent a lot of time trying different new things and making new copies of everything we needed to, especially our outlines and scripts. However, we realized at the end that everything was worth it. |
Presenting the POL which included the process in which we learned about a completely new topic and made a documentary about it was NOT an easy task. As I said before we failed many times but recovered from everything and are still in the process to make the most beautiful work we could do.
During the presentation I believe Carolina and I could have practiced more in order to have a more organized POL structure. However, one of the things I realized at the end of the presentation is that we went back to our original theme of trial & error and towards the end we lost it as we went more in depth into the content of the wealth gap.
I realized that the reason why this happened is that there was a lot that I wanted to say and was excited to teach the audience about the topic we have been researching and learning about for more than two months. However, sometimes there isn't enough time for everything we want to do. But, we more or less knew this before we presented and a way we could have stopped it from happening is by practicing more. →PRACTICE IS KEY.
