Last weekend I took a break from homework and studying and spent my morning in the famous Peruvian gastronomic fair: Mistura. I got to state different styles of food from all around Peru, including the jungle and the mountains. Also, they had a "Chocolate World", where I got to try the most delicious sushi. Now, you might be thinking, what's a sushi restaurant doing in the chocolate section? | Well, this is actually a dessert, a sushi made of chocolate. This sushi store is called "Chocolate Sushi" and offer various sushi-like desserts with different flavors like camu-camu, passion fruit, brownie, vanilla, lucuma, and many others. Sadly, in Mistura, I was in a rush and only had time to try some of the flavors, so I asked for the address of the store and, lucky me, it was located in a mall near my house. | So, yesterday I visited the store in Open Plaza (Angamos) and interviewed the lady who worked their. She had recently began working, therefore, she did not know much, but their story seems to be very interesting. I mean, the name says it all! As many of us, when hearing the name "Chocolate Sushi" sounds strange and most of us actually think it's a real sushi. Most people get confused, she says, but after realizing is nothing similar to it's taste, they get curious. |
I took some home for my family, and they didn't have to speak to let me know that they really loved it. Actions speak louder than words right? Well, there is no more chocolate sushi in my refrigerator.
This is an innovative idea from a product that is very popular in the market recently. I encourage you all to go visit it and try some of them. They just opened during summer (2013), so in Lima they are only available in Open Plaza Angamos, and Plaza San Miguel. Do not miss it!

My favorite was definitely the Passion Fruit sushi. For all of you who like more acidic flavors, this is the one for you. Delicious!
